Religious Education

 WHAT WE OFFER

PREP: Parish Religious Education Program:  (IC campus)

The PREP Program is Immaculate Conception’s Religious Education program for children in grades K-5th who are not enrolled in Catholic schools. The mission of our Christ-centered catechetical program is to teach each child the richness of our Catholic faith tradition so that they not only learn what it means to be Catholic, but that they are transformed through an experience of Jesus as their friend, shepherd and Savior.

Middle School Youth Ministry:  (St James campus)

EDGE Middle School Youth Ministry is a program we launched in the Fall of 2015 in an effort to reach our middle school students through methods adapted to their age, needs, and the circumstances of their daily lives. Our mission is to provide a joyful community in which middle school youth can encounter Christ and begin an intentional relationship with Him. Through this Christ-centered catechesis each Wednesday night we seek to make the Catholic faith real and relevant for our teens, empowering them to become dynamic apostles who live out their faith through their personal witness and by sharing their faith with others.

Sacramental Requirements:

Students enrolling in our PREP program for Reconciliation, First Communion, or Confirmation are required by the Archdiocese to have 2 years of Religious Education classes before receiving these sacraments. Reconciliation and First Communion typically take place in Grade 2, while Confirmation takes place in Grade 8 but please contact the Coordinator of Religious Education with questions. All ages are welcome but Students need to attend 1st and 2nd year classes to be fully prepared to receive these sacraments.

We understand some students are joining us outside the typical grade windows. We will attempt to conduct special sacramental classes on certain Sunday mornings once we know the sacramental needs of our students. Please know without any prior religious education classes or mass attendance, this is a 2-year process and commitment.

Please contact the PREP office if you have any questions or would like more information about our program.
